HEAVENS LIGHT HOUSE NEWS
9/06/2022
Dear Partners & Friends,
It is hard to believe that kids are back in school, and the fall season is upon us once again! The schedule sure shows it as volleyball and other seasonal activities have already started. August was a fun month as we celebrated our daughter Rebekah’s birthday and getting her braces off! She also went on a wonderful mission trip which she was able to share with our house church on Aug. 27th. Noah Iser was our worship leader again and he and Rebekah led us in a beautiful worship time. The mixer we have on our needs list is even more important now as our worship team expands and we need more microphones. We love to see young people use their gifts for God! We also met with a new volunteer who is going to share the ministry outreach coordinator position with Angie and allow HLH to start going to YDC twice a month. This has been a dream of ours since we started going to the center.
We had a great yard sale!! We were able to raise $1700 toward our teams cost for Uganda and we had some great conversations with people that came to shop. One young man we met the night we were setting up and we were able to pray with him and encourage him in his walk with God. We were able to share our heart for people and our ministry to many people who actually asked about HLH and then spent time listening and asking questions! We had a missionary from Zambia stop by literally off the airplane and on her way home. We were able to talk to her about Uganda and gain some of her wisdom of working in Africa. “Lead with the gospel” is what she kept repeating. Amen! Mac’s Pit Stop food truck was a wonderful addition to our yard sale and we look forward to working with him again.
We had five families come to our yard sale through the Foundations group! We told them they could take whatever they needed or wanted for free. A stroller, baby swing and other children’s items were given as well as school supplies and clothing. We also prayed with the women and one of our volunteers took a woman and her children home after her taxi did not show up. We were able to help another family with food as well this month.
Youth Development Center was a fun time as we put on a carnival with games and food for the kids. Face painting gave our volunteers a beautiful opportunity to talk to the kids and share Jesus. We were able to have fun but also talk to them about God and His plans for them. The young man that we mentioned before who said he was a Muslim was again talked to and prayed with and heard about Jesus again. We have one more time to see him before he is released on his 18th birthday. Please pray that he will have ears to hear and a softened heart to accept Jesus as his Savior. This is such a special place to share God and our volunteer base is growing! The kids are searching for why they are here and what is next. We have the best gift to offer them! Jesus! Our next visit is September 26th, and we would like to tie dye shirts with them. If you can help us purchase the t-shirts and tie dye kits, please contact us!
We still need around $8,000 for our family to go to Uganda. The rest of the team also needs financing as well. We believe God will provide all the funds needed! If you feel led to help us financially, see the ways below to give. Please mark Uganda in the memo. If you want to give financially for the land in Uganda, please label that as well.
In Christ’s Love,
Keith and Sarah Lindsay
